Information Technology ( I T) provides technical services, manages
the county's technical resources, and provides consulting services
for technology improvements through three programs: Administration,
Operations, and Technology Solutions. These programs provide a
complete range of technology services which include strategic
planning, new service design, business analysis, project
management, security risk management, data security, applications
delivery and support networks, servers and storage, desktop and
mobile management, database administration, and end-user support
through the service desk.
G E N E R A L S T A T E M E N T O F D U T I E S
An I T Administrator will provide enterprise support; plan, design,
maintain, and implement services within a specified technical
discipline. Assist and support I T employees to resolve technology
development and integration issues and accommodate growth and
expansion. Responsible for the performance, security, and
operations of specific assigned systems. Technical disciplines:
Systems Administration - Responsible for enterprise servers,
storage, authentication, cloud services, enterprise operating
systems, computer systems security, all related enterprise
computing hardware infrastructure, administration, and
configuration. Large servers, virtual hosts, virtual servers,
enterprise storage systems, directory services for identity and
access management, and enterprise cloud services.

Work under the general supervision of an I T Supervisor, I T
Manager, or designee who assigns work, establishes goals, and
reviews work for conformance to technical and department standards
and in compliance with department goals.
All services will be provided in the office. Remote work is not
available.
Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the
following
Responsible for maintaining for the County's Oracle Server
infrastructure Creating and assigning user rights, using supporting
tools, such as Free I P A Ensure optimal maintenance and
performance of the Oracle Host and Virtualization environments,
using supporting tools, such as Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager
Assist with maintenance, patching, and refreshing Oracle V M
environments, including security and other supporting patches
Assist with testing and release strategies and planning Monitor and
validate Oracle system backups and recovery, using supporting
tools, such as Local Y U M repository Assist with storage-based
snapshots and cloning operations Assist with Oracle V M snapshots
and cloning functions Assist with day-to-day troubleshooting
Create/ Modify documentation or system changes Use the county's
defined Incident and Change Management practices Setup/ Configure
and monitor the environment using a variety of monitoring tools
Work closely with the Oracle Database Administrators, Programmer
Analysts and I T Systems Analyst as needed Provide support to
county staff and 3rd party vendors Other duties as assigned
Requirements for the Position
E X P E R I E N C E A N D T R A I N I N G Bachelor's degree in
computer systems or related area; A N D Two years of responsible
technical experience in enterprise infrastructure related
discipline; O R Any satisfactory combination of work, education,
training, or experience relevant to the position, as determined by
Marion County.
Preference will be awarded to applicants with the following
experience:
Certifications in scripting for automation and management for
environments using Ansible, Python, and Bash scripting.
Certifications in security and compliance and information
protection and audit logging. Certifications in data backup task
and recovery using Veeam and Oracle R M A N. Certifications in
installing, configuring and updating Oracle Virtualization
software. Certification in Information Technology Infrastructure
Library ( I T I L). S P E C I A L R E Q U I R E M E N T S The
finalist for this position will be required to pass a criminal
history background check, including finger printing; however,
conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual
for this position. This assignment is represented by a union. This
is a full-time position, which is eligible for overtime. Typical
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 A. M. - 5:00 P. M., with
flexibility depending upon the needs of the department and program.
Must be available to perform assigned rotating after-hour duties. K

Oracle Environment
Knowledge of Oracle Servers using Oracle Virtualization,
specifically Oracle K V M,with V Ms running Oracle Linux (or Red
Hat versions) including monitoring performance and testing methods.
Ensure servers are at optimal performance, patched to the latest
supported updates and security patches. Provide user
administration, principles and practices of data backup and
recovery for server hardware systems. Support software used in
supporting the application and database management systems,
principles and techniques.
Information Technology
Skill and ability: to communicate effectively both orally and in
writing; convey technical and complex information to non-technical
persons; assist in systems design and analysis; assist in the
evaluation of system performance; test and document applications;
assist with planning and coordinating program efforts to achieve
requirements and objectives; implement projects as directed;
establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with
vendors, system users and other county personnel.
Principles and practices of Information Technology Management.
Project management principles and practices. Principles and
practices of program administration and management. Best practices,
trends and emerging technologies. Principles and applications of
critical thinking analysis. Principles and practices of group
facilitation and building a consensus. Applicable federal, state
and local laws, codes, regulations (based on assignment).
Specialized equipment relevant to the area of assignment. Customer
services principles. Modern office technology.

Sees using depth perception; stands; sits; moves about the work
area; bends forward; stoops; climbs 1 floor of stairs; crawls;
reaches overhead; lifts up to 50 lbs.; pushes, pulls, and carries
up to 25 lbs.; moves carts weighing up to 100 lbs.; operates a
keyboard; speaks clearly and audibly; reads a 12 pt. font;
distinguishes colors and shades; hears a normal level of speech;
and works in areas that may be exposed to dust.
Marion County offers a generous benefits package to regular
employees working 50% or more of the regularly scheduled work week
and their eligible dependents. Temporary employees and part-time
